AI consulting and AI transformation for companies in Romania
Last updated: October 2026
Sapio AI is an AI consulting and engineering company in Bucharest, founded in 2021 by Vlad Tudor. We help companies find where AI belongs and then build it, one step at a time: a short call and a custom offer, an on-site Tech Audit, AI agents and automation, team training, or a senior AI engineer inside your team.
What does AI consulting look like at Sapio?
Cost is not the main reason companies hold back on AI. Among EU companies that considered AI and did not use it, 70.3% named the lack of relevant expertise, the most common reason of all (Eurostat, reference year 2025). That is the gap we fill: an engineer's answer to where AI pays in your company, and then the work to get it running.
By AI transformation we mean something more practical than the phrase suggests: one process at a time, taken into production, measured, then the next. Every step ends with a decision you can act on, and the later steps end with software running in your company.
Where do you start? Five steps, from the contact form to an engineer in your team
- Start with the contact form. Tell us about the process in the contact form; after a short call we send you an offer that fits: AI consulting or a Tech Audit. Every offer is custom, sized to the project's complexity and what your company needs.
- The Tech Audit, our starting package. Four hours on site with the people who do the work, a short report within three working days with 3–5 opportunities ranked and what not to build, then a one-hour handoff call. What the Tech Audit includes.
- Delivery: custom AI solutions. We build what the audit found worth building, on your systems and data: custom AI agents that work over your documents and applications, and AI process automation for invoices, documents, email and reporting. Each build starts with one use case and goes into production.
- Workshops and training for teams. Half-day or full-day sessions, so your people use AI well and can judge what is worth building next. See the workshop formats.
- A senior AI engineer inside your team. Part-time and embedded with your people, the engineer owns one use case until it runs in production, with one of your engineers paired from the start so your team can run it afterwards. The industry calls this a forward-deployed engineer. Ask us about it.
Which step fits your situation?
| Your situation | Start with |
|---|---|
| You think AI could help, but you don't know where | The Tech Audit |
| You have one process in mind and want to know if it is worth it | The contact form: a short call, then an offer |
| You know what you want built | A scoping sprint, then a fixed-price build (agents or automation) |
| Your team has AI tools but hardly uses them | A workshop for the team |
| You have a stalled AI pilot, or a use case your team cannot finish | An engineer inside your team |
How do we work?
One person leads your engagement from the first conversation to production: Vlad Tudor, Sapio's founder, an AI engineer rather than an account manager. The person who scopes the work is the one accountable for it running.
- One process at a time. We start where the return is clearest, and move to the next process once the first one runs.
- Your data, your numbers. Success is defined before the build and measured in your own pilot. We do not promise a return in advance: only 25% of AI initiatives have delivered the expected ROI, according to IBM's 2025 CEO study, so we would rather you see the number on your own data.
- What not to build. Every recommendation includes the ideas we advise against, and why.
- No dependency. You keep the code, the documentation and the evaluation set, and your own team can run what we built.
- Built to run in production. Projects start from a concrete need and end with a system working in your company.
What have we built?
- ai-aflat.ro, built by Sapio: a free AI assistant over Romanian legislation, covering 220,000+ legislative acts and used by more than 15,000 people, with a pilot alongside the National Union of Romanian Bars (UNBR). How we built it.
- Projects across legal, healthcare, retail and SaaS: document assistants, speech recognition, customer-support agents and more. See our projects.
- Sapio was founded in 2021 by Vlad Tudor, named to Forbes Romania 30 Under 30 (2025), who leads every engagement personally.
Frequently asked questions
How is Sapio different from a big consultancy?
The person who scopes your project is the engineer who leads the build: Vlad Tudor runs every engagement himself, with no account layer between you and the work. We finish with software running in your company rather than a slide deck, you keep the code and the documentation, and if hiring in-house is the better move for you, we tell you.
Do we need clean data before we start?
No. Part of the Tech Audit is looking at the data you already have and saying what it can support today. If a use case needs data work first, that work becomes part of the plan, sized to that one use case.
What does the first step cost?
Every offer is custom, sized to the project's complexity and what your company needs. Tell us about the process in the contact form; after a short call we send you an offer that fits: AI consulting or a Tech Audit.
How long until something runs?
The Tech Audit report arrives within three working days of the visit. After scoping, a fixed-price build on one use case, such as an AI agent or an automation, usually takes 6–12 weeks, including a period in which it runs alongside your team before it takes over.
Do you work with companies outside Romania?
Yes. We are based in Bucharest and work in Romanian and English, with companies in Romania and elsewhere in Europe. Builds run mostly remotely; on-site work, such as the Tech Audit visit, is planned with you, and travel outside Bucharest is negotiated per project.
Who owns the code and the intellectual property?
You do. The code, prompts, evaluation set and documentation we build for you stay in your repository, and the system runs on the infrastructure you choose.
Start with one process. Tell us about it, and after a short call we send you an offer that fits.
