Tech Audit: an AI audit for companies, in one morning on site
Last updated: October 2026
The Tech Audit is Sapio's starting package: an AI readiness audit for companies that want to know where AI fits before they spend on it. We spend four hours on site with the people who do the work, send a short report within three working days, and go through it with you in a one-hour handoff call.

Why start with an AI audit?
If you don't know where AI fits in your company, you are in the majority: 92% of mid-sized Romanian firms don't use AI yet (Eurostat, reference year 2025). The obstacle is rarely the idea. Across the EU, 70.3% of companies that considered AI and did not go ahead named the lack of relevant expertise as the reason.
The Tech Audit is a small, clear first step. It answers a business question with an engineer's eyes: where AI pays in your company, what it would take, and where it does not belong. We study your processes, find the bottlenecks and design a software solution that fits your needs.
What does the Tech Audit include?
- 3–5 concrete opportunities, ranked. The places where AI pays in your company, in the order we would tackle them.
- What each one would take. The systems and data it touches, a rough budget, and the return to expect, which you then confirm by measuring it in your own pilot.
- What not to build, and why. The ideas that look good on a slide but would not pay off on your data or your volumes.
- A roadmap. The recommended first step and the order of the rest, so the next decision is easy to take.
- A one-hour handoff. We go through the report with you and your team and answer your questions.
Who is the Tech Audit for?
- Companies that know AI matters but don't know where to start. You do not need a specification or an AI strategy.
- Mid-sized companies with a process that costs time, money or people: documents, email, reporting, customer requests, data copied by hand from one system to another.
- Teams with a tool or a pilot that stalled, who want an outside technical opinion on why, and on what to do next.
- Leaders who need a clear answer before they commit a budget, for themselves or for their shareholders.
If you already know exactly what you want built, skip the audit and go straight to scoping, on our AI agents or AI process automation pages.
How does the Tech Audit run?
- Before the visit. Tell us about the process in the contact form; after a short call we send you an offer that fits: AI consulting or a Tech Audit. Then we agree which processes and teams to look at, and who should be in the room.
- A morning on site, with the people who do the work. Four hours with you. We see the processes, systems and data as they are, not as they look in a presentation: how work moves through your company, the systems it runs on, the data it leaves behind, where time and money leak, and what your data can support today.
- A short report with a clear answer, within three working days: where AI pays, what each opportunity would take, and what is not worth building.
- A handoff call for conclusions. One hour with you and your team. The next step is your call: custom software, an engineer inside your team, a workshop for your employees, or nothing at all.

Frequently asked questions
What does an AI audit include?
The Tech Audit is four hours on site with the people who do the work, a short report within three working days and a one-hour handoff call. The report ranks 3–5 opportunities, says what each would take, lists what not to build and sets out a roadmap that starts with the recommended first step.
How much does the Tech Audit cost?
Every offer is custom, sized to the project's complexity and what your company needs. Tell us about the process in the contact form; after a short call we send you an offer that fits: AI consulting or a Tech Audit.
What do we need to prepare?
Very little. We need four hours with the people who run the processes we look at, and a view of the systems and data they use. You do not need a specification or an AI strategy: working out what to do is what the audit is for.
Is the Tech Audit an IT or security audit?
No. It answers a business question: where AI pays in your company and what it would take. We look at your systems and data only to judge what they can support. It is not a security review or an AI Act compliance assessment.
What happens after the audit?
The next step is your call. Depending on what the report finds, it can be a fixed-price build, a senior AI engineer inside your team, a workshop for your employees, or nothing at all. There is no obligation to continue with us.
Do you run the Tech Audit outside Bucharest?
Yes. The visit always takes place on site, at your premises. Outside Bucharest, travel is negotiated per project.
Four hours on site, a short report, one hour to decide what comes next. A small, clear first step.
